Dr. Iris K. Barrett, Founder of “The Word is My Life” Training Ministry, is a teacher-counselor, minister of God's Word, intercessor, writer, and public speaker. She has been commissioned by God to disciple others through life-changing instruction, ministry, counsel, and prayer. "The Word is My Life" is a sanctuary ministry of soul care and restoration. Dr. Barrett comes alongside individuals, groups, ministries, and organizations that seek to live out their true identity and purpose. She has been doing this work for over 17 years.

In her community, Dr. Barrett partners with Christian Community Outreach Ministries in Hickory, serving as a biblical counselor there. She ministers to clients and others in the community who seek soul healing, life direction, and restoration. She also disciples those interested in walking in the call of Christ upon their lives, particularly women in ministry. Her two leadership development groups are Women With a Call and Women in Ministry. A member of Christ Alive Church in Newton, NC, Dr. Barrett serves on the altar prayer team. She is also a pastoral advisor for Aglow Lighthouse in Hickory, NC. In addition to being a wife, daughter, sister, niece, and auntie, Dr. Barrett is also a spiritual mother to many.
